This Privacy Policy explains how EesyLoad ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores,
and protects information when you use the EesyLoad rider app, driver app, or related
services (together, the "App"). It applies to all users in South Africa and elsewhere,
and is written to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and,
where applicable, other relevant data protection laws.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Phone number, used as your primary account identifier and for one-time password (OTP) authentication
- Name and profile photo (optional), if you choose to add them
- Saved delivery/pickup addresses
- Messages sent through in-app chat between riders and drivers
- Delivery confirmation photos and signatures (driver app)
Information collected automatically

Location data: we collect precise location while the app is in use
to match riders with nearby drivers, calculate routes and fares, and track deliveries
in progress. The driver app may request background location access so that a booking
in progress can be tracked even if the app is minimised; this is only active during
an active delivery.
- Booking and trip history (pickup/dropoff points, timestamps, status)
- Device information (device type, operating system version) for compatibility and support purposes
- Basic app usage data, to help us diagnose bugs and improve reliability
Payment information
Card payments are processed by Paystack, a third-party payment processor. We do not
store your full card number on our servers. Paystack's own privacy policy governs how
they handle your payment details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account, and verify your identity via OTP
- To match riders with available drivers and facilitate deliveries
- To calculate fares, process payments, and maintain booking records
- To enable in-app communication between riders and drivers for a given booking
- To respond to support requests and safety alerts
- To improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
- To meet legal, tax, and regulatory record-keeping obligations
3. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as necessary to operate
the service, with the following categories of third parties:

4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Supabase's cloud infrastructure, with data encrypted in
transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your data is restricted using row-level security
policies, so that riders and drivers can only access data relevant to their own
account and bookings.
5. Data Retention
- Active account data is retained for as long as your account remains active.

Transaction and booking records may be retained in an anonymised or de-identified
form for up to 5 years, as required for financial record-keeping, tax compliance,
and fraud prevention under applicable South African law.

Safety-related logs (e.g. SOS alerts) may be retained for up to 12 months where
necessary for safety investigations or legal obligations.
6. Your Rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data (see our Account Deletion page)
- Object to certain uses of your data, subject to legal and operational limitations
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa
7. Children's Privacy
EesyLoad is not intended for use by children. Both the rider and driver apps require
users to be of legal age to enter into a service agreement in their jurisdiction.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected
by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
